Spring Social, 2020 - Warsash

On behalf of the Chairman:

Following the storms and floods of early February just over 20 members gathered at Warsash Sailing Club to get the new sailing season to the starting line.  Those in attendance were: Richard Brown (Frances 26 ELLA) John Cade (Morris 34 CADENZA) Peter and Jenny Cosker, Sue Doyle (Victoria 30 QUE SERA) Keith and Hazel Harrison (Victoria 38 HOTWATCH OF HAMBLE) Olive Hathaway, Pete and Kate Hunt (Shadow 26 JOLLY OLLY) Ian and Tracy Rycroft (Shadow 26 WINE DOWN TIME) Richard and Meryl Saunders (Victoria 30 WYNN) Brian and Dawn Smith, Jon and Lynda Spencer (Landau 20 SKYLARK) John and Gillian Walker, and Guy Warner (Victoria 34 RUBY STAR).  Although, all are not current boat owners we still enjoy these gatherings of like-minded folk.

As usual the social gathering was preceded with a Committee Meeting, with a full attendance, thanks to the wonders of the internet, and an electronic link with our new Website Editor, Duncan Hill, who joined us in sight and sound, from Ireland.  The caterer produced the usual splendid “pub grub” fare, and the Club’s volunteer bar team kept our glasses charged.  With an audience to observe the moment Jon Spencer took the opportunity to present Guy Warner with the Best Log Cup.

Best Log Cup being awarded

Members brought a variety of raffle prizes including a jig saw, chocolates, several bottles of wine, and a bottle of bubble bath cunningly disguised as a bottle of gin.  Let’s hope the winner ensures that it is kept in the bathroom and not the drinks cupboard.  As usual John Cade distributed the raffle tickets, which this year were free, and ensured that the prizes were evenly distributed.

The next social gathering will be on the 7th March at Wivenhoe on the east coast and is being arranged by David and Sue Macgregor.  The outline details are on the Association Website and we hope it will be well attended.
