Victoria 16 - Bluebell
Hi,
I grew up sailing on my parents' Victoria 30 (Victoria Rose). I never knew that Victoria ever made a dinghy until a couple of years ago, when I was looking for a seaworthy cruising dinghy and saw a Victoria 16 advertised on apollo duck. With the family connection I simply had to buy her!
I've owned Bluebell for about 3 years now and she has proved to be an excellent boat. I keep Bluebell at Poole Yacht Club and have enjoyed exploring Poole Harbour and along the coast to Swanage & Christchurch. I love sailing with friends or with my 2 young children, but I often sail singlehanded. This year I hope to expand my cruising grounds and plan to join the South Coast rallies in the Solent.
From what I understand there were not many 16s built, I know of one in Chichester and one in Pembrokeshire. I believe they were moulded by Westerly, fitted out and marketed by Victoria.
Happy sailing
Jo

Interesting. Chuck has gone back (did he ever stop?) to designing and building smaller craft, so there's form! Welcome to the Association!

Thanks Duncan
Chuck's little boats are beautiful. However, the Vic 16 was designed by David Thomas, who also deigned the Hunter Sonata, Impala, Sigma 33, etc.
