Help with CE Certification

Dear fellow members, I've recently purchased a Victoria 30 in Scotland soon to be shipped to Italy. In order to do this she's undergoing CE certification. The surveyor is trying to get the yacht certified as Category A 'Ocean', however he believes that potentially the certifying authorities in Brussels might put some hurdles. He has asked me to find out, about ocean passages performed in a Victoria 30. Would be a shame if the Victoria 30 gets a certification below it's capabilities, and if we get a Category A, this would be a precedent for any other Victorias sold from the UK to Europe.
Any information from Victoria 30 owners will be greatly appreciated
Kind regards,

Charles

Re: Help with CE Certification

Hello Charles

The Victoria manual for the V30 states – The Victoria 30 is constructed to ensure that it has buoyancy characteristic to comply with those laid down for the specific design category (category A)

The V30 has a Vanishing Stability of around 165 degrees calculated.

The V30 was never tested for the RCD. However, there were two built as coded boats for the STC in about 1992 it may be possible that the RYA have some record and data of the actual stability curves that may help.

Kind regards

Re: Help with CE Certification

Dear all, just an update on the CE certification requirements for the Victoria 30 in order to import it from the UK to the EU. After the survey and the review by the EU tech guys in Brussels, she only needs to have a holding tank for the heads installed. On all other aspects she has passed with no further issues, I believe testament of the good design and construction. I will post the approved manual once it gets signed off officially, which is based on the manual posted here in addition to further comments and changes suggested by the surveyor.
Thanks,

Charles
