Water muffler and exaust hose
Hi all!
My Frances 26 Boreas K has a Yanmar 2GM20F engine since new in 1988 that still runs very well. The exaust hose is quite old probably starting to leak and I think it needs replacement. I would very much like to know if someone did that job without removing the engine as there is no space. The water muffler is between hull and 80l diesel tank! Maybe by removing the heat exchanger from the engine would do but I am not sure. Any ideas would be great!

Re: Water muffler and exaust hose
I fitted a Beta 16 to Inyoni, my 1987 Frances 26, and foolishly never replaced the exhaust system when I removed the old 8 HP Yanmar. I also built a custom, high lift, cross over exhaust elbow. Then, and only then, I made the decision to replace the exhaust hose and Vetus water lock, without removing the engine. It was a very long difficult job, and in hindsight, it would have been much easier to remove the engine, and place it on the saloon sole, then replace the exhaust, and refit the engine. As your engine is not a Beta, it may be different, but removing the whole en is not difficult at all, and in my case would have been the correct way to do this job.

Re: Water muffler and exaust hose
Hi Bill,
I think that I will follow your information and suggestion of removing the engine as that will be for sure the correct way to do this job.
Thank you very much for your reply.
