ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Members will have seen Peter Cosker's Notice for the Annual General Meeting, which always provides for an enjoyable day and splendid lunch (Smoked Salmon, Roast Beef, and Apple Tart) and good company.  However, more important than the day is the need for us to maintain a Committee structure to attend to the business of the Association.  This year Peter steps down from the post of Honorary Secretary, and the details of what is required are included within the Notice.  If a volunteer is not found I will take on the task to give Peter the break, but that solution is far from ideal, and my busy day job does not help the situataion.  The honorarium, that comes with the appointment, is more than enough to provide the incumbent, and partner, with a lavish supper after the three Meetings held each year.
I would be grateful for your support to keep our Associaation viable.

Re: ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The entertainment at this year's AGM was provided by Chris and Michael Passmore, who gave a talk about their experience of the 2012 Round The Island Race and have kindly given us permission to reproduce their presentation here for those members who were unable to attend the AGM, or those who simply wish to view the presentation again!  In order to view the presentation, you will need to have a copy of Microsoft Powerpoint, or a suitable Microsoft or third party viewer, installed on your computer.

Sadly I wasn't present at the AGM, but Peter Cosker included the following account of the presentation in his Xmas newsletter:
Michael introduced the talk and brought with him the original log book containing the details of his first Round The Island Race. It seems there were considerably fewer entries in those days! Chris took up the story and talked us around the course from finding the start line to the long beat, usually hard on the wind, up the back of the island to find the correct finishing line. There seemed to be a lot of scope for getting things wrong, even up to the last few minutes of the race. The visual presentation was excellent and the talk was greatly appreciated by all present.
