EAST COAST SPRING SOCIAL AT WIVENHOE
An important date for your diaries - Saturday 15th March 2014 for the East Coast Social at Wivenhoe.
We will follow the usual format of meeting for lunch at the Rose and Crown on the quay before adjourning to the Nottage Maritime Institute just a few yards away along the quay www.nottagemaritimeinstitute.org.uk
As the pub is often busy at weekends, we suggest arriving around noon to place orders for food as early as possible Parking on the quay is very limited and can be wet at high tide – approx 11.30 on the 15th. The station carpark is just a short walk away
Shortly after 2pm we plan to move to the Institute. Our speaker this year will be Ted North, CEO of the Morning Star Trust. The flag ship of the trust is the Morning Star, a 62ft gaff rigged ketch based on the Medway competing in Tall Ships’ Races, regularly sailing to France, Holland and the Channel Islands and as far afield as Spain, Russia and America. She will be a familiar sight to many sailing on the East Coast. Ted will talk to us about the work of the Trust and it’s sail boats.
We will round the afternoon off with tea and cakes. Please bring a small prize for the raffle which will be held to defer the costs of the event.
It would be very helpful to have an idea of numbers attending, please email/phone: macgregor.farleigh@btinternet.com or 01622729507
We look forward to seeing you at Wivenhoe and hearing all of your east coast sailing adventures before returning to another summer in the Mediterranean
