Report - South Coast Early Summer Rally to Emsworth 2019

Those of you who were unable to come to this rally certainly missed out!   We had a great weekend with 10 yachts, 18 people, some lovely weather, a super location and some excellent food.

Seven yachts travelled to Emsworth arriving on either Friday or Saturday around high tide at midday. Six of these, Symphony (Alan & Sheelagh Taylor), Ruby Star (Guy Warner), Albertine (Malcolm Hodd), Widgeon (Tim & Dee Clarke), Wynn (Richard & Meryl Saun-ders) and Panache (Andy Gleadle) tied up, rafted in pairs along the visitors pontoon and Que Sera (Sue Doyle) tied up above the drying grid in order to carry out some repairs at low water.  Here we joined Ella (Richard Brown) and Calva (William Clare) both residents at Emsworth and Aziza (Chris McNally & Polly) who were ashore carrying out some last minute maintenance before being lifted back into the water after spending the winter ashore there.

After coffee and cake onboard Wynn most people took advantage of the sunny Spring weather to walk into Emsworth town before gathering for a “Pontoon Party” on the shore next to the visitors pontoon where we were joined by Peter & Jenny Cosker and Jon & Lynda Spencer.  A selection of drinks and nibbles were consumed whilst everyone chatted in the evening sunshine.  We then retired to the Deck Restaurant where we were made very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed the food on offer.

Sunday morning saw a leisurely start whilst we waited for the tide to rise so that we could all get out over the sill.

We will meet up again for our next rally at Mercury Marina on the Hamble in September.  Until then, have a great Summer and enjoy lots of cruising.
