South Coast Rally to Lymington - revised plan
During the VSA committee meeting at the end of Feb the options for our Early Spring Rally were discussed. Our planned date, the weekend of 11th - 13th June is after the date when hopefully groups of up to 30 can meet up outside but can’t be catered for indoors - the rule of 6 or 2 households will still apply there. We are therefore proposing a slight change to the plan.
The rally will not now officially start off in Gosport, although some of us may well make a 'pit-stop’ there anyway. Instead we will meet up in Lymington on the Dan Bran (Harbour Master’s) pontoon during the afternoon of Saturday 12th June. Berths here have already been booked and I am in contact with Sarah in the Harbour Master’s office. When this was planned for last year I had to book and pay a deposit in advance. They then had to do a refund for us and presumably many others when we were all forced to cancel. This time all I have had to do is book spaces. A week beforehand I have to confirm our booking and then 2 days before they want each boat to make contact, provide details and pay for the night(s) they are staying.
As our group will be less than 30 people we will be able to meet up on the pontoon or as an alternative there is a green area not far away where we could set up camp and have 'a picnic’. If we all brought our own drinks and some food then assuming the weather is in our favour this could take the place of our usual restaurant/pub evening meal. If the weather lets us down then we will have to go off and find our own inside meals, although there would still be scope for some joining together under the rules.
If you are happy with these arrangements and would be interested in attending please let me know.
Take care and stay safe.
